What do we do with all those kids?

Two different camps will be offered this summer and we are so excited about them!

Ilse will be in charge of the Animal clicker training camps and 'Horse clicker training camps' for boys and girls ages 9 and up.

Hugo will be in charge of the Leadership adventure campsfor boys and girls ages 14 and up.

Upon request we have restructured 2 camps into 'Horse Clicker Training Camps'.  The camp structure is very similar to the normal 'Animal Clicker Training Camps' but we will work with horses only.  The kids can bring their own horse or use one of ours.

Ilse will be in charge of these camps, together with her assistant Bjorn. Ilse is a mother of three, horse trainer and riding instructor, biologist and certified first aider.

Our beautiful farm is located 3km East of Black Diamond, right by the Sheep River so besides the animal training there will be swimming, pony rides, fishing, fossil searching, a sling shot competition, games, nature hikes and whatever other fun things we can come up with. The week is going to be too short!

We are expecting our baby goats around the first of July!

And of course …we are going to have a lot of fun! We will be clicker training all sorts of animals: goats (don’t worry, they don’t smell!), dogs, a llama, maybe even try a chicken!  With the 'animal clicker training camps' we will start out with the smaller critters first and work on the kid’s clicker skills. Kids with some horse handling experience can try their newly acquired skills on the horses at the end of the week. Those that are horse crazy should register for the horse weeks where we will only work with our gracious friends, the horses.

The animal/horse clicker training camps

These camps are run at our 100 acre farm close to Black Diamond. This is a working farm and the kids will have lots of time to participate in farm life. They will not only learn how to train the animals, but also how to prepare a stall, how to care for the rabbits, how to milk a goat, how to feed the chickens and if it is harvest time, they will never forget that smell of freshly cut hay!

The leadership adventure camps.

This week long competitive adventure treasure hunt will take you around the world.  You will discover ancient secrets and learn about different cultures while using your creativity for inventive problem solving to conquer the barriers on your journey and solve riddles that will bring you closer to your ultimate quest : to solve The Mystery of Gaia.  Two teams of 7 will have to learn how to work together and develop smooth team work in order to reach their goal.  At times the teams will race and conquer each other but they will also have to trade and form alliances at other times in order to solve the ultimate riddle.

The journey will be a combination of treasure hunt, adventure challenges, problem solving, self reflection, survival techniques, team work, leadership, role play and lots of fun.

This around the world safari will take you from the Rio Grande in New Mexico, to the volcano's of Japan and the slumps of Brazil.  All on our farm in the Sheep River Valley just East of Black Diamond.  We will use the terrain with rock beaches, cliffs, the Sheep River, river pools, willow bush, spruce forest and open pastures and transform it in canyons, mine fields, volcano's and battle fields.

On your journey your team will cross a canyon, challenge a volcano, build shelter, experience the slumps, walk back in history, conquer the flag, walk through a minefield and survive a white water river.  It will challenge you both physically and mentally.  It will stimulate you and expand your perspectives, and it will be safe.

You will learn what you are made of, define what is important to you and why, learn and practice communication techniques, deal with conflict, apply positive reinforcement, build and lead teams, develop a global world view and start building the world as you want to see it.

Hugo will lead this educational adventure.  Hugo is a former executive of a multi national where he built winning teams and conducted business on different continents with a variety of cultures. He currently is president of "The Company Coach" a leadership development company that focuses on optimizing productivity in the workplace.  In his free time he leads the Young Leaders Foundation International and volunteers as a youth coach for the organization.  The YLFI offers a leadership community program for youth from 16 to 18 years of age.  The program is currently available in several Foothills and Calgary communities. By July he will also be a certified first aider.
